The idea of building a coaching business from scratch might sound super scary to you, as it was for me in the very beginning.

But once you give yourself some time to ‘soul-search’ and dive deeper and explore more of what’s within your comfort zone, experiences, knowledge / understanding, and what you are really good at – you start to realize, “hey, I might actually be able to do this and be really good at it!” It definitely takes time, patience, and persistence – but I’ve ALWAYS told myself, where there’s a will, there’s a WAY!

I’ve gone ahead and outlined the 21 step-by-step process I personally took to get me from where I was in the corporate world to where I wanted to be as a coach + consultant (self-employed), where I make my hours, rules, set my rates and vacations. No more 9am-5pm rushing around; and crazy commuting. Phew!

Booked 5x coaching sessions with an experienced mentor specifically re: my career & life

Created a visual & written biz plan

Got clarity on my ‘dream audience & clients’

Booked a business photo session with a professional photographer (or this can totally be done at home with a friend; I just LOVE photo sessions and having that creative outlet)

Organized by removing all clutter from my home & home office

Continually learn by researching area(s) of expertise (listening to audible / FREE podcasts, reading books, and doing informational interviews to learn from other experts in the industry)

Connected with DREAM target audience network before growing community (FaceBook Groups, MeetUps, etc)

Network with experts in the field and other professionals within the industry (in REAL life or simply virtually; something about having a real life connection is irreplaceable and refreshing to the SOUL)

Offered complimentary coaching (example of this would be creating a close-nit workshop or group where you’re testing and tweaking your materials for your target audience, and completing surveys along the way to ensure your goals are aligned and well-received by your dream audience)

Identify an accountability partner within a similar industry

Search for the top 5 digital software resources used within the industry

Created a Closed Facebook group (Community) to build my audience

Eliminated opportunities for comparison with others (less FaceBook / social media time – dedicated more time to doing the work)

Limited the idea of ‘perfection’ (this topic sounds BORING!)

Acted on my gut instincts (in ALL areas of life!)

Meditated & Prayed (Goodness, this is a GOOD one)

Set intentions and made them non-negotiable

Scheduled regular workouts

Dedicate additional hours in the day

Near Future Goal: Hire a Virtual Assistant

Decision to be the BEST version of myself in life & biz

{Mantra: I’m Creative, Confident & Courageous!}
** Don’t worry – creating and believing your mantra will definitely take time – but it’ll TOTALLY be worth it!**

I hope these steps can help you on your journey on a path you call your own. It's so VERY important that we remind ourselves we are enough while gaining the confidence to move forward with our ideas, heart, and vision.

Believe me, it's going to take discipline and self-motivation, but the best thing you can do for yourself is to make sure you have a “side-hustle” to provide financial stability and income for your family before making the leap 100%.

This allows for less financial strain and stress to allow for one to be more creative and free with themselves to explore the endless possibilities of – what is possible for their life.

So whether you decide to be a dream, doer, or maker, or more specifically a coach – you have to align your heart and soul to first and foremost, make sure you are ultimately passionate about what you decide to commit to for your business.

Unfortunately, there is no magic wand to take you from where you are - to where you want to be, its called doing the work and putting the blood, sweat, and tears into everything you do.

So, if that means getting up at 5AM before everyone else or staying up until 11:59PM to get moving like re-doing you website, creating branding / marketing materials, printing new business cards, and outlining your new process, then that’s what needs to be done.

You can do this!
