MAUREEN, CLOTHED IN HOPE.
We are so honored to introduce you to a maker named Maureen today.
She works with an organization called Clothed in Hope, in Lusaka, Zambia. Their goal is to provide for vulnerable women through a skills-training program. They have partnered with Fair Trade Friday, a ministry of Mercy House Kenya, to bring hope and empowerment to women around the world.
Maureen, the woman pictured, is the brains behind much of Fair Trade Friday's jewelry line, specifically the earring designs shipped out to women as part of the Earring of the Month Club. Maureen graduated the Clothed in Hope life-skills training program in September 2014 after completing a 12-month sewing and business curriculum, all while her daughter, Regina, played happily on her back. Maureen, in her own beautiful way, shows us how to #waketomake and is teaching her children that work is good, and that no obstacle is big enough to keep her from pursuing her dreams for her family.
Because, as Maureen shows us, the truth is that no matter what you make, you have something beautiful to offer the world. A skill and a story that can inspire people, even people thousands of miles away.
Fair Trade Friday has a one-time box or a monthly club subscription, with the option of an additional Earring of the Month Club subscription.
Change the world, look good doing it.
Each product made for Fair Trade Friday boxes, from coin purses to earrings, is a way for women to rejoice in their story of hope and redemption.
Want to join in on supporting women like Maureen all over the world?
Fair Trade Friday exists as an avenue for women to empower women. They are tackling poverty through job opportunity and empowerment rather than simply enabling. 100% of the proceeds support the artisans, more than 500 women and their children from all over the world. Fair Trade Friday is a ministry of Mercy House Kenya, a non-profit organization who is working on the grounds in Kenya, supporting the outcast, the hungry, and the lost women of the area.
